Korean language is different from its neighboring China or Japan. Korea has its own distinct language and writing.
Korean alphabet consists of 24 consonants and vowels. It was invented by King Sejong of Chosun Dynasty in 1446.
If you are planning to stay in Korea for extended period of time, you may want to consider learning Korean writing(Hangul).
Speaking and listening Korean may be difficult to learn but simple reading is quite easy to learn.
Many children learn reading Korean Hangul at home and become able to read it even before entering elelentary school at age six.
It usually takes a few days (two hours per day) to learn to read Korean writing.

He wrote, Hangul's 24 letters alphabet has been described by scholars as "the world's best alphabet" and "the most scientific system of writing." They are an ultrarational system devised from scratch to incorporate three unique features.
